Interact Club
It has been a busy year for the Interact club of Blouberg International School! We have not let Covid stop us from making a difference in the lives of as many people as possible!
However, we could not have been able to do so if it wasn’t for our incredible parents, learners and staff who have contributed so much to all of our drives, specifically our food drive and ongoing clothing drive for Peace Home which does so much to support our local community.
Other events that our Interact Club have been involved in include visiting Fallen Angels where learners were able to give some neglected dogs much deserved love and cuddles. We were also fortunate enough to be invited to attend a ‘Packing party” where our younger Interact members were given the opportunity to pack bags of food for those in need.
Overall, I am immensely proud of our school and our ability to come together to support those in need- it is truly what makes BIS a family.

BIS Interact Club 2020 – Thank You
As the outgoing president of the Blouberg International School Interact Club, I would like to extend my gratitude to the BIS family. Despite the years’ immense regulations and restrictions, the support that we received from the staff, the parents and the students remained constant, if not increased.
At the start of the year we had a specific goal in mind: to support and empower people and children in need. It is no secret that 2020 has been an especially difficult and unfavourable year, and often in more ways than one. In spite of this, and because of this, we received hundreds of generous donations in aid of our initiatives.
The BIS Interact Club had 3 drives this year, the Bring-a-book Civvies Day, the second hand clothing drive as well as the sanitary pad drive. With the support of everyone in the school, we managed to collect over 1000 books, almost 800 items of clothing, 70 pairs of shoes and a box full of sanitary pads, diapers and underwear.
The books, that we collected earlier this year, were donated to the Vaatjie Moravian Primary school and the Sunshine Educare organisation. The proceeds from the clothing and sanitary pad drives were split between the Blouberg Rotaract Club and the Table View United Church for use in their outreach programs.
Good luck to the new Interact Board for the year ahead and please continue to support the Blouberg International School Interact Club in the coming years.

Interact Club News Term 4 2019
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp:During the third term break, two of our Interact Club members took part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp.
Vallarie Fodson, Year 11, tells us her experience of the camp:
“This was a truly life-changing experience. Not only did I learn the importance of being a leader, but the hidden values of being a follower were also highlighted.
This experience reminded us to be proud of ourselves. The camp, its directors and the fellow campers helped each other find our hidden strengths and understand and work past our abilities. The significance of trust was conveyed as we were lead blind folded through a racing river rapid whilst being handcuffed to our not so blind partner. The idea of patience was put to the test as we made it past minesweepers, riddles and scavenger hunts.
Above all it was fun to make new relationships, meet new people and just grow as a person whilst enriching other people in your way. RYLA taught us you just don’t give back to your community by providing food but also by being a representative of where you come from and making those we stand for proud.”
Blouberg Rotary Toy Drive:
We would like to encourage everyone to participate in the Blouberg Rotary Toy Drive by donating an educational toy for boys and girls aged 5 to 10 year old (prize range between R50 to R70 to keep all gifts similar). All toys collected will be given during the annual Rotary Club of Blouberg’s Christmas party.
If you can help, please hand your donation in to your homeroom teacher by Wednesday, 20 November.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
