Interact 2022
My name is Rifqah Price and I have been a member of the Interact Club since I was able to join in year 8, 2018 and I have loved being a part of it. I have been able to watch it grow in size over the years and observe as the club comes up with new ideas on how to better the community, ourselves and help those in need. I have recently been elected as the new 2022 president of the Interact club and I am so excited to be able to continue the work of the previous presidents in reaching out to the local community and helping out wherever we can.
Covid-19 has made social interaction with the community quite difficult, but that just leaves room for more creative ideas to surface. I hope that in the coming year, I alongside the rest of the board members, will be able to become an integral part of the community again, not only reaching out to the main charity organizations, but also the lesser known ones, who don’t have as many resources at their disposal. I plan to make the effort to inform the club and the school about exactly who we are helping, what they stand for and in doing so we not only help those less fortunate, but are also able to unify the club, put a face to a name and effort into a cause. I know that with the help of 2022’s board members, we can grow the interact club even more in size and in perspective.

End Of Term News
I think we can all agree that this term has flown by, and I can’t quite believe that we are already halfway through the year. It has been a busy term with prelim examinations, internal June Examinations and external Cambridge Examinations taking place.
Term 2 reports will be available on Engage on Friday, 25 June 2021. A letter was sent out on Engage explaining how to access your child`s report. If you experience any problems please contact Ms Trindade Camara on 021 557 9071 or at trindade.camara@iesmail.com.
I also want to congratulate our Interact Club on a successful clothing project. Yesterday they delivered 38 bags of clothing to Home of Hope. A special thank you to the parents who donated clothing and other items.
As a staff would like to thank each and every parent for their support during the term and we look forward to working with you in Term 3.

Blouberg Rotary Club Children’s Christmas Party
On Saturday, the 7th of December, several members of our school’s Interact club were accompanied by Ms. Berger and Ms. van Niekerk to share shifts at the Italian Club of Cape Town where Blouberg Rotary hosted a Christmas Party for numerous underprivileged children. They spent the morning refereeing soccer games, among other things and the afternoon was spent serving lunch. The kids were entertained by a petting zoo which contained all sorts of farm animals (rabbits and chickens, to name a few), a horse cart ride, face painting, a photo booth, a jumping castle and a game of friendly football.
It was a lovely sunny day filled with loads of laughter and smiles. The children then got to watch a magic show, meet Santa and receive Christmas boxes and a meal of hamburgers and chips.
This is an annual event that is organized to see to it that those less fortunate get to experience the festivities of Christmas time as well.
It was a pleasure to see so many smiles and we cannot wait to participate once again next year!

Interact Club News Term 4 2019
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp:During the third term break, two of our Interact Club members took part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp.
Vallarie Fodson, Year 11, tells us her experience of the camp:
“This was a truly life-changing experience. Not only did I learn the importance of being a leader, but the hidden values of being a follower were also highlighted.
This experience reminded us to be proud of ourselves. The camp, its directors and the fellow campers helped each other find our hidden strengths and understand and work past our abilities. The significance of trust was conveyed as we were lead blind folded through a racing river rapid whilst being handcuffed to our not so blind partner. The idea of patience was put to the test as we made it past minesweepers, riddles and scavenger hunts.
Above all it was fun to make new relationships, meet new people and just grow as a person whilst enriching other people in your way. RYLA taught us you just don’t give back to your community by providing food but also by being a representative of where you come from and making those we stand for proud.”
Blouberg Rotary Toy Drive:
We would like to encourage everyone to participate in the Blouberg Rotary Toy Drive by donating an educational toy for boys and girls aged 5 to 10 year old (prize range between R50 to R70 to keep all gifts similar). All toys collected will be given during the annual Rotary Club of Blouberg’s Christmas party.
If you can help, please hand your donation in to your homeroom teacher by Wednesday, 20 November.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
