Team Building Tournament
Year 4 students enjoyed a lovely morning of team building to end the term. Coach Fabein from FP Sports and his team of professional coaches organised some fun activities for the classes to complete in a Round Robin competition. The students had a great time and Mrs du Plessis’ class won the challenge overall.
We would like to thank our wonderful team of coaches for the care and support that they show our students every day. We look forward to a well-deserved holiday and to come back refreshed and ready in Term 4.

Year 5 Boot Camp 2020

ATTENTION!
An amazing time was had by all the Year 5 students who embarked on the fun filled, adventurous camp to Buffalo’s Drift run by the spectacular, experienced and energetic camp leaders of Boot Camp Cape Town.
The students were put through thought provoking, mind boggling and physical strength tasks. Each and every student braved these activities with great tenacity and commitment. Through 38 degree temperatures, no one failed! They supported, helped and motivated each other along! As a teacher, it was a special moment to have observed.
The Green team had a slogan… “Lose to Win” They decided on this slogan after a few activities through the course of the first day and it epitomizes a powerful message of team work. They had decided that they will complete as many tasks as they can, to their best ability, leaving no team member behind. Everyone was a part of the team and everyone was going to assist each other in accomplishing the tasks set out. The concept upheld the visionary of losing as an individual to win as a TEAM!
Even though the students had to partake in obstacles, to complete tasks, the true success came not from the completion of these obstacles but rather from the realization of “ACHIEVEMENT”. This was by far more valuable of a lesson to learn as it outlines one’s self worth and value.
The camp turned out to be a success as we all took something of importance from the experience. We challenged ourselves and extended our ‘ability’ boundaries.

Year 3 Rocklands Camp 2019
Our journey to and fro from Rocklands Centre was filled with much anticipation and enthusiasm on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th November 2019. The students entertained one another by singing, chatting with one another, reading and creating their own rhymes on the bus. On the way back due to being so exhausted from all the fun-filled activities, most of the Year 3’s eagerly slept and awaited their arrival to meet their parents whom they missed greatly.
This camp was a huge success as the students not only embraced each activity with such enjoyment but also had the opportunity to develop their team-building, communication, gross motor and cooperation skills. Rocklands camp was a huge success and one that provided the learners with a well-deserved break from working exceptionally hard this year.

Year 5 Camp 2019
On Wednesday, 20th November 2019 anticipation filled the air as the Year 5’s headed off to Worcester to enjoy in the exhilarating camp at High Africa. Songs, cheers and pure excitement was felt on the 2-hour bus drive from BIS to Worcester. Games were played and conversations were had to pass the time.
On arrival we were met by our highly energetic camp leaders who welcomed us to our new headquarters for the next three days. We were warned of the pesky mosquitoes, the cluster of spiders lurking in the night and the potential dangerous snakes out there in the fields. NOTHING was going to stop us from having a good time, not even the 32-degree Celsius weather that greeted us on arrival.
We scaled up 12 meter climbing walls and jumped 5 meter heights off the ground. We ventured into the veld and built bridges with just the natural wood planks laying around. We offered words of encouragement, a helping hand when needed, a shoulder to cry on and hugs of motivation. We had pure fun playing in water and getting our hands and feet dirty. All the pleasures of being a child.
Camp has taught many of us how to be team players and how to persevere even when we really want to give up because the satisfaction of trying is far more rewarding than being an onlooker.

Year 11 Leadership Camp

The year 11 class recently went on their leadership camp at the Big Oak adventures, camp Karmel, in Franschhoek, from the 18th to the 20th of November.
Over the 3-day camp, the class embarked on various team building and adventurous activities, including water activities, cliff diving, blindfolded activities, an extensive obstacle course, and many others.
Through these activities, learners were challenged to get out of their comfort zones, learn new skills, practice teamwork, as well as, of course, have lots of fun! Activities tested the class’s ability to work together, learn more about each other and allowed for self-development and growth.
Accompanied by Mr. Harrison and Mrs. de Villiers, the class also received guidance and skills from their teachers, and needless to say, it wouldn’t have been the same without them.
Being an adventure/leadership camp, the students were able to prepare and practice skills for their matric year 2020 ahead.
